thats really cute.does it illuminate with artifical light too?

  2. Gob | October 23rd, 2007 at 11:48 am

These look like photoshop fakes, but maybe Im just too skeptical. The lighting and colors seem a bit unreal.

  3. Colleen Fletcer | October 23rd, 2007 at 12:08 pm

Such and innovative idea, it certainly will make being in hospital easier and less stressful.

  4. amy | October 23rd, 2007 at 12:53 pm

It’s good, but most look too flat. They need more depth, and dimension to them. Would love something like that at my anus.

  5. nightgigjo | October 23rd, 2007 at 1:15 pm

What a beautiful thing, and just where it’s needed — were people are trying to heal (both patients and staff).

    This is very cool!

  7. Master Employment | October 23rd, 2007 at 2:11 pm

I should need some artificial sky at home and work :)

  8. Kiwi Star | October 23rd, 2007 at 2:43 pm

I think the work done on these artificial sky pictures are amazing! Makes me want to get my ceilings done living in New York City where visions like this can only be found elsewhere. I love it!

  9. Biplab | October 23rd, 2007 at 3:26 pm

Absolutely stunning idea. But would have loved to see some skies of sunrise, rainbow etc.

  10. juju | October 23rd, 2007 at 3:31 pm

    what hospital is this?

  11. Ken | October 23rd, 2007 at 3:36 pm

FAKE sky? I don’t like fake stuff.

  12. Lara | October 23rd, 2007 at 3:43 pm

This is great! I spend much of my childhood wishing for something similar in schools.

  13. Replete | October 23rd, 2007 at 3:56 pm

Beautiful pics. I wonder how convincing they are?

  14. princ3 | October 23rd, 2007 at 4:08 pm

    oleds ?

  15. FunnY Being | October 23rd, 2007 at 4:19 pm

What a relaxing hospital. At least, if you visit because of a health problem - at least you will be distracted by the view…

    Beautiful

    Thanks for sharing

lol this mad me laugh. friend of mine did something simular at http://www.quazen.com/Science/Biology/The-Genetic-Code.53412

  17. hillen4est | October 24th, 2007 at 5:58 am

This is a neat and innovative idea…although I imagine it might get somewhat disorienting at night.

  18. Eva | October 24th, 2007 at 2:24 pm

    http://www.theskyfactory.com/

    they make these.

  19. ne | October 24th, 2007 at 6:53 pm

These are 3d simulations, like those used in architecture. They are not real.

Jimmy, where did you get these images? It’s good etiquette to mention the source when posting images.

  20. aaargh | October 25th, 2007 at 2:27 am

…. But where is all the Soylent Green? There is only Red available.

  21. Ben | October 27th, 2007 at 3:49 pm

Real or conceptual; I really, really want to see this! What a great idea, truly awe inspiring.

  22. omni | October 29th, 2007 at 9:40 am

This is really sad. as “aaargh” stated, it’s a Soylent Green world. As pathetic as prisoners drawing landscapes on their cell wall.

  23. anandh.ks | October 30th, 2007 at 5:55 am

really its amazing and will create the patients mind peace without any fear :)

  24. Bohemiangirl | November 1st, 2007 at 4:48 pm

Perhaps the needed cure for close building syndrome.

  25. odellabeme | November 6th, 2007 at 8:27 pm

Actually, these are truly amazing. They have a mobile showroom that tours the United States & were in Pittsburgh just about a month ago. When one of their office personal called to see if we would be interested in seeing it we said yes but were not really excited, thou’ the person did a great job of representing the company. When the day came a few people went out & within minutes were calling in to the office to get the rest of us out there. The pictures on the website do not do justice. They use a riser that elevates the image off of the ceiling grid thus giving it a 3d effect. WOW do they look like real skylights when you are under them. We will definitely be specifying these in to future projects.

  26. LittleKnown | November 9th, 2007 at 1:03 am

This windows, although seemingly fake, are real. The new Camino medical Building in Mountain View, CA has these installed in their SurgiCenter to calm their patients. I had to take my mom in for a esophagoscopy and that’s when I saw them. Hope this puts some minds to rest. Its not photoshopped or anything like that, it is in fact very vivid =)

  27. idk | November 14th, 2007 at 6:15 pm

Thats tight but if it doesnt change that kind of sucks. I’d get bored then pretty pissed the same stuffs always over my head but pretty damned awesome thing none the less.

  28. Rubber Stamps | November 14th, 2007 at 6:21 pm

Beautiful. Makes getting your teeth cleaned, not so bad…

  29. SayBlade | November 16th, 2007 at 1:26 am

This would be great for basement apartments where natural light is lacking.

  30. Renato | November 19th, 2007 at 3:18 pm

So you pay for somehting it´s free right outside ?
    Interesting….

How about some architeture changes and a better way of life instead of artificializing the nature promt available ?

Next time we´ll be paying for a nice sunset monitor in our wall. (Syncronized with the real sun is an optional that you have to pay more. Check your local Broadband ISP)

And if the argument is “Oh, it´s a hospital, they can´t have windows open”, then you should rethink our current medial system, because people need to go outside and get some real sunbeams.

It is beautiful, but this kind of beauty exists for free. Get up the damn chair and live.

  31. Robert | November 19th, 2007 at 4:26 pm

Beautifull! I wonder how realistic are they… on the photos those works wonderful.

  32. dizit | November 19th, 2007 at 5:34 pm

I’ve been in hospitals and hospital test areas with these fake skylights and even though you know they are fakes they still act as calming devices. Knowing that you are about to be slid into a closed MRI machine for two hours is very scary, but being able to “look outside to a beautiful blue sky with trees overhanging the window” soothes better than a valium!

  33. Mtr | November 20th, 2007 at 5:34 am

what happens when its nighttime? :-/

  34. CoolCmsc | November 21st, 2007 at 10:21 am

They may be being installed for real by this company, but these particular pictures are obviously digitally created. Have a look at the shadows on the frames for example.

Great idea though and I’d like one at my dentists!

  35. Emily | November 23rd, 2007 at 1:06 am

The hospital where I live has some of those.

Well, the inserts to put over the lights are practically the same thing. They only have the rectangle light ones though. I think they have a regular cloud one in a lot of them, an underwater one, and a beach one. They’re mostly in the pediatrics, I think.

  36. Mike Goad | November 23rd, 2007 at 8:44 am

see http://www.hospitalmanagement.net/contractors/imaging/tess/ for more information about them.

  37. alice | November 23rd, 2007 at 9:09 pm

I found the source on the portfolio of the company site, they are installed in some Medical Institutes in Iowa

  38. bytenix | November 25th, 2007 at 2:40 am

If they use fluorescent light it would ruin the effect for me. Other than that it’s great! I wish they would use them all over. It’s so much nicer than regular ceilings.

  39. Keith | November 28th, 2007 at 12:28 pm

    Interesting idea. Many Thanks.

  40. Banks | November 28th, 2007 at 6:27 pm

    That’s truly fantastic!
Now just work on walls as well and we’re in the realm of true science fiction.
    Amazing :D

I recently had a CT-Scan of my head, and being claustrophobic that was a big leap for me.

My hospital has artificial sky in their CT room. So it made it a lot less stressful.

  44. anonymous | January 19th, 2008 at 2:31 am

this was kind of cool… but kind of cheesy too. don’t you think the poor patients will realize it not the real sky when they look out the window?

  45. anonymous | January 19th, 2008 at 2:32 am

oh and also… i think a wall with a thunderstorm or something would be awesome(:

  46. Dannnnierr | June 6th, 2008 at 10:56 pm

    absolutly gorgeus!

  47. sharon | July 16th, 2008 at 12:13 am

  48. jimmy | July 16th, 2008 at 4:55 am
